Counseling Approach
Christian counseling is the application of general Christian ideas and principles into the context of counseling. It combines your faith with the principles of psychology to improve your mental health and relationships with family and friends.
Troubling life events like the death of a loved one, life transitions, declining health, loss of a job, financial problems and/or relationship issues can benefit from a faith based, therapeutic approach. As a Christian counselor, I can assist clients to identify underlying issues and develop coping skills. This will enable my clients to adapt to life’s challenges, have richer relationships and insure a healthy, more abundant life.
Christian Grief Counseling
When losing a close family member, such as a spouse, parent, child or sibling, grief becomes particularly intense. While grief is a normal response to the loss of a loved one, the physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual reactions can be overwhelming. These emotions can lead to feelings of fear, helplessness and isolation. Developing coping skills through Christian faith and therapeutic counseling.
During the grief process, you may feel a disconnection to others. Speaking to a Christian grief counselor can assist in the healing process and help you to find comfort, acceptance and peace.
Dealing with Parenting Challenges
Children today are faced with many challenges, some of which include the influence of media and technology, along with peer and societal pressures. Parental challenges today need to identify and understand these issues in order to create a healthy, open dialogue with their children. A Christian counselor can help to guide you on your parenting journey. It can also be beneficial when you are unable to identify your child’s needs or when you are overwhelmed by parenting responsibilities.
Financial Problems
Financial problems can be caused by certain, unforeseen circumstances, e.g., sudden illness and resulting medical expenses, home repairs and loss of employment and can place a great deal of stress on a relationship. Diverse personalities among couples can also influence how each person views how to spend, save and invest.
Financial issues can be reversed with professional counseling help. A caring Christian counselor can help you sort out the emotional and relational symptoms related to money problems. With professional assistance, you can overcome financial issues and learn how to move forward in a better direction.
Dealing with Anxiety and Depression
Anxiety and Depression are the most common mental health issues today. A Christian counselor can help identify and address the underlying causes of anxiety and depression, in a compassionate manner. You will be able to identify triggers for your emotional distress and develop coping mechanisms, with the additional support of your faith.
